Good landscaping maintenance is a combination of skill, experience, and good old fashioned common sense.
Have you ever seen those guys that cut your lawn in the pouring rain? On occasion, a storm will catch anybody, but if they mow your lawn consistently when it rains, your lawn will suffer: skid marks, clumps of wet grass clippings, and so on… A mess!
What about the guys that cut your lawn low — too low! Too low is a No No! For a more vibrant, healthier lawn, your lawn should be cut at no less than 3″. During heat spells, we recommend cutting it even higher so that it retains more water and sends roots deeper.
Nearly anyone can cut a lawn, blow off a driveway, etc., but we develop a sense of pride in all the work we do. We enhance our employees sense of pride for a job well done with knowledge about proper technique and lawn care. Ornamental Pruning: Tree and Shrub Care
Proper shrub and ornamental tree pruning is practiced by very few companies. I know this because I’ve had to retrain crew who I’ve hired from other landscaping companies to prune properly. Anyone can pull out a gas powered pruner and hack away at things. But plants don’t like this!!!
Hand pruning with clean, sharp clippers, loppers, and hand saws is the best way to take care of ornamental trees and most flowering shrubs.
Hedges that are comprised of hemlock or yew can be sheared, but the pruning should be augmented with some hand pruning to ensure light gets into the deeper parts of the hedge to promote internal growth, which improves the hedges health, strength, and hardiness.
